Together
Written by Yunseon Jeong, Illustrated by Kyutaek Kim
In today’s world, where digital communication is the norm, the concept of "being together" may feel unfamiliar to children. Moreover, as face-to-face interactions have decreased due to the COVID-19 pandemic, opportunities to learn about togetherness have become even rarer.
Being together means understanding others, empathizing with their emotions, cooperating, and sharing. It also means taking action to create a better world and continuously striving for a better tomorrow, even if problems are not immediately solved or changes are not visible right away.
175×230mm | 104p / ISBN 979-11-90704-93-9
The book Together is structured around five key themes: "Togetherness," "Cooperation," "Sharing," "Action," and "Tomorrow." It presents everyday situations that children might have experienced, as well as major social events, encouraging young readers to explore issues from their own perspective, analyze real-life cases, and seek ways to move forward together.
■ Togetherness
Through the story of citizens who helped rebuild the Los Angeles Central Library after a devastating fire, we reflect on the value of living together as a community.
■ Cooperation
By exploring the Galaxy Zoo project and the Zespri Cooperative, we learn about the importance of working together.
■ Sharing
Through the story of Nexon Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital, which was built through donations, we explore how sharing can help everyone live better together.
■ Action
By looking at Malala’s fight for girls’ education rights and the Black community’s bus boycott against racial discrimination, we learn how solidarity and action contribute to building a better world.
■ Tomorrow
Through the stories of the Wijsen sisters, who campaign against plastic bag use, and Tun Channareth and Jody Williams, who work for a landmine-free world, we explore ways to create a sustainable future for all.
Children are born as citizens and grow as citizens. Growing into healthy citizens should be a natural part of their everyday lives. That is why the Little Citizens’ School series aims to accompany children's growth by exploring social issues they encounter in daily life from various perspectives and discovering ways to live together in harmony.
