Departing for an island that sparkles like a star
The child fell asleep crying alone. In a dream, the child accidentally discovers an ‘island sparkling like stars’. Large white birds invite the child. Arriving by boat, the child found the island filled with many other children. There, the child met a friend named Yuri, held hands tightly, and explored the island. They rode the Ferris wheel, made candy necklaces to share, gave bread baked with their small hands to the other children and birds, and sang songs together they had never learned before.
Children who had fallen asleep crying gathered in their dreams, sharing joyful experiences difficult to enjoy in reality. Soon, the time to return to reality approached. The child awoke from the dream, smelled the scent of bread on the tear-soaked pillow, and felt a momentary sense of relief.

She has written children’s books such as 《Hamlet and Me》, 《A Bear on a Spring Day》, and young adult novels such as 《The Insane Surgery Report》, 《Do I See a Bird?》. She has also written and illustrated 《I Became a Rabbit》, 《Today’s Dog and Bird》, and so on.
Illustrator: Seo Su-yeon
Seo contributed illustrations to 《I want to become a strange and free grandmother》 《Care and Work》 and drew the pictures for the picture book 《When I Turn One Hundred》. She works at a cafe and draws after work.
