Human actions have caused the Earth to malfunction. As Arctic sea ice melts, vast amounts of freshwater flow into the oceans, diluting seawater salinity. This reduces the deep water formation. Less deep water means slower currents, creating major problems for the global circulation system. Like a domino game or the butterfly effect, one issue affects countless others. On this increasingly heated planet, we gradually facing the Earth’s crisis. By meticulously showing the progression of the climate crisis through marine ecosystems and natural phenomena, we come to understand in detail what is happening to the very planet we stand upon.

Kang Hyounwoo
Kang studied at the Department of Oceanography at Seoul National University, earned his master’s and doctoral degrees in physical oceanography from the same university’s graduate school, and currently serves as a principal researcher at the Ocean Climate Prediction Center of the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology.
