Did You Say I Am Pretty?
Written by Hwang Inchan ● Illustrated by Lee Myeong-ae
It’s a story of a boy who seeks the meaning of ‘pretty,’ the word his classmate Kim Kyunghee murmured. This story begins with reflecting on one’s image positively. And it shows the process where a boy experiences a delicate change of emotions and empathizes with others while seeking the meaning of the word ‘pretty.’ The child tries to find the prettiness within himself, through others’ judgements, or from the surroundings, such as the sunset. Through the lovely and heartfelt pictures, this picture book shows the sophisticated emotions appearing in a glimpse among the ordinary daily life in the classroom.
