Saving Bouncy the Puppy
Written by Jiyeon Yoon · Illustrated by Doyeon Kim
One injured puppy changes everything.
Friendship, responsibility, and compassion are put to the test.
After finding an injured puppy named Bouncy that has been hit by a car, Seoyeon and her friends take the dog to a veterinary clinic. What begins as a simple act of kindness soon becomes more complicated when they must think about medical bills, the puppy’s owner, and who will take responsibility for it. As their opinions begin to differ, the situation begins to test their friendship. At the same time, Seoyeon reflects on her aunt, who lives with a serious illness, which deepens her thoughts about what it means to care for another life. Through their experience with Bouncy, the children begin to understand that helping someone involves difficult choices and real responsibility.
The story explores what it means to care for a life and how far responsibility can go when we decide to help. Rather than offering easy answers, it invites readers to reflect on compassion, responsibility, and the difficult choices that sometimes come with both.
